"Same Old Song" show at the Basement

Mom was offered to do a song  called "These Boots Were Made For Walking" at the Basement (a club downstairs from Grimey's Records). The twist to the event is that everyone sang different versions of the same song. I was lucky that I was even invited to the event because I'm 12 but the boss (whose name is of course Grimey) said I could come to the early show with my dad for a few minutes. It was very dark in there even though it was daylight outside. I thought the darkness was weird. The host's name is J.J and he lives in Germany and does this same old song thing there (this was the first time in the US). For his opening act JJ did the song in a dress. I thought "is he crazy"... in a funny way. He also sang it in German.
On this song Mom's partner's name is John Bohlinger and he went to boarding school with my Dad and my Aunt Allison. He is a really good musician and he does TV, here is his wikepedia page John_Bohlinger_(musician)). He and my mom did really good and their version was more surfy punk rock. Here's the link to the video of them doing it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_8iJdVvDuA.
The song is a 60s pop hit by Nancy Sinatra that has girlish Go Go dancing on the video like on Austin Powers. (She was like a pre pre pre Madonna). After mom's song I wanted to leave because I was craving ice cream and Dad said he would take me for boy's night to Jeni's (I highly recommend the salted caramel and the salted peanut butter). So, as Dad and I were leaving I told mom "these flip-flops were made for leaving" and she thought it was funny and shared it on Facebook. Below is a picture of mom and John Bohlinger. Stay tuned for more of my activities.

Whats up with me

We are moving to a new house so we are doing a lot of stuff to prepare us for our move. We went to a closing on it last week but we don't have to be out of our current house for a few weeks.
The current house is much bigger but the new house is newer and there are some kids in the neighborhood We are doing a lot of shopping for couches and rugs and I'm starting to get bored with it but I am excited about planning a vacation for after we move in in July. We may go to the New Jersey Shore and go to the City to see a Broadway show or maybe we will go to Florida and sit on the beach. Mom is going to a record listening thing tonight that Grandbobby is on and i'm excited she will have fun. I just got a new Nashville Parent magazine today which shows events coming up and I will list some new ones soon. Here is a picture of  us at the closing .

p.s Happy Birthday to my grandmother Grandee! You are such a great lady, I love you 🎂

Nashville Pride Festival

I went to the Nashville Pride Festival yesterday and here's how it went down. Dad dropped me and my mom off because there wasn't much parking and we didn't have much time to spend there because we were busy all day with buying stuff for our new house. So dad circled while mom and I walked around. There were lots of booths. Cracker Barrel gave us a free bag filled with goodies. We did a fun thing where we pretended to be in a music video presented by Nissan. It was a 360 degree video where we where on a platform and the camera rotated all the way around us. We had friends in booths that we wanted to visit. Moms friends Anna Butler Webb and her husband Micheal were there so we said hello to them. Also, we saw another friend named Tommy Womack who was the DJ for WXNA but he seemed busy at the moment spinning records. We saw the guys we know from Miss Jeannes dinner theater. One guy Asa was dressed up goofy like Richard Simmons. He was a very flamboyant fitness instructor who got famous from being crazy acting.(?) The festival was celebrating diversity rights. There was a Australian preformer who did a silly version of Thriller by MJ.

Chaffin's Barn presents Sister Act

Mom talked to a friend named Joy who she worked on a play with who works with Chaffin's Barn Dinner theater. She offered us a great friends and family deal for their production of Sister Act so we went last night! The theater is located near the Loveless Cafe. It is in an actual barn that was turned into a dinner theater and they are on their 51st season. There was a buffet that people can go to to serve themselves before the show; it starts at 6 and closes at 7:30.  We got a really nice server who goes to college in New York City. The food was really good, they had sticky chicken and cheese biscuits. Mom had a vegan bean soup and a pasta. The musical started at about 8:00. It is about a lounge singer whose married boyfriend shot someone in his gang and she saw it happen but she wasn't a part of it. So she is hiding somewhere no one can find her: a church filled with nuns. This was based from a movie starring Whoppi Goldberg. The nuns really sung very groovy and fabulous. There was really funny gangsters in the play. Moms friend Martha plays Mother Superior in the show and she has another friend named Jenny who was Michelle/Mary Hart. I thought the whole company did a really great job. They have a live orchestra too. The show runs til July 22 if you want to see it.  For more go to http://dinnertheatre.com/#tabsubscribe

Moon Pie festival

I found out that in Bell Buckle,TN. there is an annual moon pie festival. Mom thought it was in a small town called Hohenwalde but we found out it wasn't before we went all the way there. It was a 1 hr drive but it was worth it. Bell Buckle's population is only 512 which is the same as most schools. I saw booths filled with country crafts. There was a rock climbing wall and a bounce house.I climbed a very long time because the lady/son operating it were nice and kept letting me try. I went to a small coffee shop and ordered a sandwich. We sampled three kinds of moon pies and RC cola. They are southern legends and they are delicious, kinda like Little Debbies. My favorite was the banana flavor, second best was salted caramel and the chocolate was in last place. The RC cola tasted like Pepsi+ the South. I took a selfie with Uncle Sam. He spoke on the event stage. I also sampled the world's largest Moon Pie that they made to celebrate the Moon Pie's 100th b-day. We went antiquing too since they had lots of shops there. I suggest that you should go next year if you have never been. It is a fun, small town thing to do.

Happy Fathers Day

My Dad was always so awesome to me. We do boy's nights when mom is out. We like to go out to Corner Pub for BBQ because mom doesn't eat BBQ. Just last May we went on a field trip to Alabama together where we hiked and looked at the Civil Rights museum. He took me to a Sounds game and camping with the cub scouts but it got super cold and we were miserable. Dad is super funny.
Dad is the best
Happy fathers day to all!

Decluttering part 2/McKays Used Bookstore.

Me and my parents are decluttering books and Dvd's for our move. Located in West Nashville is a cool shop called McKays that sells used books, Dvds, CDs, games and even instruments! So on Monday we went there with 4 big bags of books/DVDs. Mom couldn't get rid of her old Grease VHS and took it back out of the bag. Does anyone even use VHS's anymore? They took our stuff to see what they wanted to buy from us and the lady who worked there said ''we will call your number in about 1 hour". We went to a burger place and then went back. We shopped while we were waiting and I ran down the aisle exited because I saw so many awesome books series I liked. I said"This is a kid's book Paradise!".  The cool thing is they give you credit for free stuff so I got Percy Jackson greek mythology sequel books called "The Lost Hero" and "The House of Hades" and My parents got a Jack Black movie called ''Bernie". When our books were sorted out by Mckay's, there was tons of stuff they didn't take, even a cool book about the Kennedy assassination and time travel by Steven King. We put in in the free bin out front and someone took it right away. They gave us enough credit  for what we wanted and we had some more credit left over. If you want more info on how you can also get rid of old stuff and get free new stuff go to mckaybooks.com. .Now here are some pictures...

My Decluttering Day part 1

Since we have bought a new house we have been decluttering my old toys, books, DVDs, etc.
Yes, I'm really moving this summer but its okay and it's not far away. Mom was talking with a lady she knows who works for Monroe Harding (a foster care system) and  yesterday we took some toys to them for little kids who might need them. The nice lady named Amy who works there gave me and my mom  cool t-shirts that say "even Superman had foster parents". It is true, do you remember that story.?.The lesson is
to let a child be a hero of their own story by believing in them. I went to a cool room inside Monroe Harding filled with toys. Amy really liked my old Dinosaurs I donated and says she will try to send us pics of those kids in foster care playing with them .If you are interested in helping  contact Amy Bond at monroeharding.org. I really like doing good deeds because It makes me feel awesome. You might see my mom acting in one of the training films to show you how to become a foster parent if you want to train. You don't have to be a foster parent to help. You can donate money or your time.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

I went to an ice cream social at the First Presbyterian Church yesterday. It was The 32nd annual Miss Martha's ice cream crankin' party. It was a contest for a local church to see who can invent the best/ most creative homemade ice cream flavor. It cost $10 for kids. The money goes to  the Martha
O' Brian foundation who helps those in need. One Summer I did a Meals on wheels camp with them.
So, for 10 bucks you can sample over 100 flavors! I didn't have that many (sorry). I did have a Hawaiian style ice cream that tasted like pineapple, it was one of my favorites. The one I loved the most is called the Dulce de leche. It was butterscotch with nuts. There was some Preds pride flavors (They lost the Stanley Cup last night but were still proud of them.) The most insteresting ,was the "Undead Elvis" which was peanut butter, banana, and bacon (EW). I also tried some Spicy Ice cream. After all that ice cream I had a tummy ache. After that I came home and I saw my G-bob, and he came over to eat with us and we played 20 questions. Then, it was a big night for TV because the Tonys were on plus the Stanley Cup plus my Uncle (by friendship) Shane was on Celebrity Family Feud on Kelly Clarksons' team. Mini-story: There was a pool party before Miss Marthas and I saw mom's high school classmate Julie.

Captain Underpants

I went to Hundred Oaks mall to see my friend Foley. We were going to see the movie Captain Underpants. At first there was nobody else in the theater. When they first started the movie the 3D wasn't even turned on. The Moms complained and they turned it on.
I found it to be a very hilarious movie with lots of potty humor. The moms didn't like it at first but the then thought it was cute. Lines like when the villain said "Oh really Oprah" to the kids who were analyzing him won them over..It was about two boys who hypnotized an evil principal to think he was a underpants based superhero. The villains name is Professor Poopypants.Almost everyone in the movie laughed.
Because of the mess up of the 3D they gave us free tickets, which was awesome because now we can go back and see Cars 3 for free.

I also ran into my old friend Chloe at the pool yesterday. I have known both Chloe and Foley since kindergarten.

Tune in for a report on Miss Martha's ice cream bash at First Presbyterian Church tomorrow, it's 3-5 in case you want to go sample ice cream.

Visit to the Farmers Market

My mom said to me if I want to be at an event, go to the Nashville farmers market. It is located next to the Bicentennial Mall. My mom wanted to get some ingredients for some Gazpacho (a cold cold veggie soup from Spain). We ran into a friend named Anna Butler Webb .She was selling very cool t-shirts and she was selling art out of a trailer.
We couldn't find a strange kind of cucumber called a hothouse so we got a regular one.We also got peaches from the yummy Peach Truck. Then, we went inside the food court which had international foods. We walked to a splash pad with lots of sprinklers at the Bicentinnial Mall. I got all wet in my clothes. That's a fun thing for kids too do in the summer to cool off. I also played theater in the Colosseum.  On the way home I went to a Predators hockey t-shirt stand and got a super cool t shirt that says Smashville on it. Also, I got a fidget spinner. I played with it so much. the guy who had the stand gave me a free flag for my room. In Belle Meade, someone had put predators t-shirts on the horse statues because nashville is so excited about our team being in the Stanley Cup. We came home and ate the delicious gazpacho. The Preds also lost☹️ Tune in tomorrow for at the movies:👨‍✈️ Captain Underpants edition. I'm going today at Hundred oaks. Bye.

Rainy day idea

I'm gonna tell you an awesome rainy day activity. Draw or color something cool .You get to expand your horizons. My mom's friend Margret gave us dog and a cat tote bags to color in.I colored the dog and mom colored the cat. She finished hers, I haven't finished mine . I never really liked coloring before because it wastes time but, this sorta  changed my opinion because I enjoyed the creative time. Mom really loves coloring and coloring with me.
We can't have events every day so sometimes we need to use our imaginations and make your own fun. Tune in tomorrow for a blog about the pool or  something else cool if it happens.
Here are some pictures of the totes we colored:

Let's Go Predators!

If you can't afford 1,000 bucks for the nose bleed seats at Bridgestone for the Predators competing against the Pittsburgh Penguins for the Stanley Cup,  I've got another fun way to watch it.
Last night dad's friend asked him to meet downtown at a private club pre Predators game so me and my mom dropped him off. It was crazy! It took us an hour to get out of the traffic. Every one I saw was wearing yellow to show pride in our team. While stuck in traffic I saw Florida Georgia Line taking pictures with people downtown which was really awesome. Mom and I decided to park on Music Row and walk the 1.2 miles there to check it out for ourselves. The walk was tiring but it was worth it. We saw a tent with Predators merchandise and fidgit spinners, that's hilarious I think. We saw guys with signs saying "I need tickets". We saw a sign that says "Catfish disposal" on a trashcan because people take dead catfish and throw them onto the ice for some odd reason. We walked past the security checks at Bridgestone and I told the policemen "better check them for catfish" That was super funny, i think one of the security guards laughed. Then we saw a big screen for fans to watch the game set up in the middle of Broadway and 5th avenue. Dad ended up meeting us there and we watched 25 minutes with a huge crowd, there were thousands of people, I have never seen downtown that crowded. They kept showing our crowd watching the game on the screen, it was exciting! It was broadcast all over America and don't forget NBC Telenmundo (their Spanish version) and don't forget Canada! Ha!
There was also a screening at Ascend Ampitheater , but parking was hard for us to get to. Mayor Megan Berry was in the spirit by making yesterday Predators Pride Day, renaming 5th Avenue "Predators Way" this month and even wrote a letter to people telling them to please excuse their employees if they were late for work today.
We ended up watching the rest from home and guess what...they won! 4 to 1! So now they are tied with 2 wins each. We want that Stanley Cup! Let's go Predators!!!

My first weekend of June

This is what I did this weekend.

On Saturday, I went to  this Mom's  demand action for guns thing. Our friend Laurel was volunteering. It is to show we need less gun violence. There was food like burgers and hot dogs.I had a picture takin from a photo booth.I also talked to firemen and I got to sit in thier truck. Then I went to the pool to swim and we watched a Beetles documentary on pbs. We ate shrimp tacos with slaw, mango and avacodo.
On Sunday, a friend of ours named Stefanie came into town so we took her out to brunch with Grandbobby. We went to Urban Grub a trendy restaurant on 12 south. There was a seafood bar with oysters. I got chicken and waffles. We walked down 12 South afterwards and we went to Sprinkles cupcake ATM.We also went to Reese Witherspoon (a famous actress from Nashville)'s store called Draper James. Mom got a t-shirt that says"What Would Dolly Do?"
I also went to a concert at Fannie Mae dees park called"Dragon Music Park Sundays. They are trying to save the dragon whose tiles need repair. So we bought me a tee. I'm embarrassed to say we ran into friends of ours who helped organized it. I'm afraid of seeing people  I know in public when I'm not expecting it.
